Danda Yoga (Fundraiser)
October 24 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm$45.00
Dandasana, meaning staff pose, is one of the foundational poses of yoga asana. In Ayurveda, the sister since of yoga, Meru Danda refers to the spinal column. The word danda connotes uprightness and adherence to principles.
This class merges the inner danda with the outer danda, a composite bamboo staff used to explore your asana practice in a completely new way. Every pose will have a grounding perspective and purpose as we navigate through our asana with heightened stability and energetic alignment. This presents new challenges, new ways to be strong, and new ways to open.
This class is a fundraiser in which 100% of proceeds benefit Black Rainbow. Black Rainbow is a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Sistergirl and Brotherboy (LGBQTI+SB) organisation in the pursuit of positive health and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lesbian LGBQTI+SB. Black Rainbow is premised by advocacy, leadership, and solutions which identify and address social and cultural determinants of wellbeing as they relate to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians whom identify as LGBTIQ+SB.
In these unprecedented times, universal human rights are being encroached upon and eroded through fearful propaganda and policies. This is particularly true for trans BIPOC (black and indigenous people of colour), a community disproportionately affected by fatal violence. Your participation and donation contribute to a reality in which we can all be upright and strong, together.
